Scenic
Wonders, Inc. (SWI) expertise in digital media traces its origins
in founder
Matt Peterson's graduate education in experimental video and
computer graphics during the mid-1970s -- an early venture into
what would become known as "convergence" many years later.
As
president of Dynatech Video International in the early 1990s, Peterson
contributed to the buildout and launch of Star Television in Hong
Kong, the worlds first all-digital-to-air broadcaster, as well as
in many other early implementations of digital postproduction and
broadcast.
SWI
has been involved in all aspects of digital media since its inception
in the mid-1990s.
Market
research for digital acquisition, postproduction, and distribution
has been a focus of its nitiatives since the company's founding
and ts original joint venture - Phillips Market Partners - with
PBI Media. SWI has worked with all the major equipment manufacturers,
ndustry organizations, and user communities to advance the business
application of digital media on screen and online.
Digital
video telecommunications emerged as a related area of expertise
soon thereafter. Not only did SWI's research activities expand to
include this field, but the company produced the first VidTranS
conferences to facilitate expanded business and technical relationships
among telecommunications, film and video content creation, and media
distribution (broadcast/cable satellite). Highlights included demonstration
projects with NBC, Pacific Bell and Sony in fiber-based DTV WAN
transmission and with Universal Studios and USC's Entertainment
Technology Center in digital cinema. Most major video telecommunications
providers and manufacturers have been SWI clients.
Through
an investment and professional services relationship with MyWeather
LLC, SWI provided Matt Peterson's services as president during that
company's early stage years. MyWeather pioneered a number of important
broadcast industry initiatives. These include Personal MicroCast®,
an Internet-based brand extension service and viewer acquisition/retention
tool for local broadcasters, and highly localized weather programming
for NBC's WeatherPlus DTV initiative.
